It's been a while since I've posted anything here, but I wanted to let you all know about some exciting (for me) news. For the past two years I've been in the process of applying/accepting a job in the US Govt as a Foreign Service Officer (US Dept of State). I received a conditional offer last year pending the successful completion of my security and medical clearances as well as a suitability review. I have passed all that and have been waiting for several months for an official offer. I received that offer a couple of weeks ago and will be moving to Washington DC in September to begin training. To say the least, I'm pretty excited about it, but I thought I should let everyone know.

Bells Performance
Just wanted to let you know that I (Serena) will be having my first performance as a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choirs Bells on Temple Square (can you think of a longer name) on May 30th at 9:30 am for Music and the Spoken Word. Just thought I'd spread the word so you can keep your eyes peeled for me!

Dealio
Just so our community blog doesn't feel left out, I decided to post something. I'm always looking for good deals.... so share!
Many of you already are aware of this awesome co-op, but for those who are not, this is for you. I recently discovered (thanks to my sister, Ronda) a deal called Bountiful Baskets. On Monday, you order a "basket" for $15, then on Saturday morning, you go to a specified pick up site to get your produce. The basket contains 6 different fruits and 6 different vegetables. If you are interested in what types of produce, you can check out a few blog entries listing the items from four different weeks. Example 1. Example 2. Example 3. Example 4.
You can purchase as many baskets as you want (as long as that many are available... they go fast so make it quick!) You can also add other items offered each week, such as bread, olive oil, etc. Check out the list each week to know what is being offered.
The only catch... most pick up times are early Saturday morning... so if you aren't a Saturday morning person and you want it... you might have to bribe your early-morning neighbor with some blackberries to get it for you.... You will have a 20 minute window to pick it up, or it will be donated to the local fire department. However I did find that last Saturday when I got up at 7 instead of 8 or 8:30, I accomplished a lot more that day!!
It is available in many areas in Utah, Idaho, and Arizona. But it is helping me to eat better since I normally don't buy many veggies.... and I'm not a huge salad eater, but Romaine lettuce seems to be a hot item for them.... which is good since I should be eating it anyway!
So there you go, for those who have not heard of this before, check it out and see if it is a good fit for your family. Ronda has been doing it for the last month and she has been really impressed. I have only done it one week, but I'm excited to keep doing it.
FYI: The website is less than amazing at shopping time... don't get discouraged! And don't forget to check what time your area becomes available to start purchasing! (Springville is 3 hours later than Layton.) Happy produce shopping!!

Friends vs. North Dakota Friends
FRIENDS: Never ask for food.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Always bring the food.
FRIENDS: Will say 'hello'.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Will give you a big hug and a kiss.
FRIENDS: Call your parents Mr. and Mrs.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Call your parents Mom and Dad.
FRIENDS: Have never seen you cry.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Cry with you.
FRIENDS: Will eat at your dinner table and leave.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Will spend hours there, talking, laughing, playing dominoes or cards and just being together.
FRIENDS: Know a few things about you.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Could write a book with direct quotes from you..
FRIENDS: Will leave you behind if that's what the crowd is doing.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Will kick the whole crowds' back-ends that left you.
FRIENDS: Would knock on your door.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Walk right in and say, 'I'm home!'.
FRIENDS: will visit you in the hospital when you're sick
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: will cut your grass and clean your house then come spend the night with you in the hospital and cook for you when you come home
FRIENDS: have you on speed dial
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: have your number memorized.
FRIENDS: Are for a while.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Are for life.
FRIENDS: Might ignore this.
NORTH DAKOTA FRIENDS: Will forward this to all their North Dakota Friends and those who once lived in North Dakota.

Graduation!
Hey all! I just realized that people haven't been posting in a while on here. I just wanted to let you all know that I am FINALLY graduating from BYU! It really is about time. I feel like I have been here forever. I just wish the economy was a little better. That means that I don't have a job yet (though I am still waiting to hear about a couple of things), but hopefully I will know soon what I am going to be doing in the future.
So, I will be graduating on April 24! I add a picture of me in my graduation cap and gown as soon as I get them.

My Bismarck Friends
I've just been thinking about my Bismarck Friends who actually still live in Bismarck. With all the crazy flooding and stuff, I've been wondering how you are all holding up? I haven't been keeping up with the news very well about it, so I haven't heard an update on the progress of all the work they've been doing, but I hope you are all well, and that your homes and families are safe. Hopefully April will start acting like Spring soon!

Big News!!!
Ok. I have some great news and hadn't had the time to write and tell you all.
So here it goes. I'd been dating with Uri for six years, and last august we applied together to a job at Bogota, Colombia.
We started thinking we would go and live together for one or two years if we got the job, and then later we would got married.
So... We got the job, and all of the sudden we realized we wanted to get married and get to Colombia as husband and wife. This was like a month or two ago. So we did everything a little fast!!!
We told our families and planned something with the nearest people, because we only got married by the civil marriage now, and will get married by the synagogue when we are back. That will be in one or two years.
The job we are going to do at Colombia is leaders of the jewish youth there, and that is something I really love doing and I am very happpy about it.
So now... I am a married woman and will be leaving to Colombia in two more weeks... I can't believe the changes I am having in my life rigth now, but also I am so happy for this changes, I am excited!!
So I wanted to shared this big happiness in my life with all of you, because each one of you have a very special part in my heart. Here are some pictures of the marriage. Love you all!!!
